Summary
Non-normative sexuality in Africa is seen as undermining cultural and human norms. Sexuality is shrouded in silence in African discourse and literature. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s ‘On Monday of last week’ alludes to a same-sex relationship.These texts address non-normativequeer subjectivities, interrogating and politicising them with different effects.They offer spaces to reimagine subjective states. Read together, they use silence as an aesthetic of queerness.
