Research has found that the combination of Shufeng Jiedu Capsule (SFJDC) with western AVD might have a significant effect on the improvement of the clinical symptoms of mild to moderate COVID-19 pneumonia. SFJDC is composed of eight herbs, namely Polygonum cuspidatum, Forsythia suspensa, Isatis indigotica, Bupleurum chinense, Patrinia scabiosifolia, Verbena officinalis, Phragmites communis and Glycyrrhiza uralensis. Forty mice were administered SFJDC for four days and the results showed that the levels of IL-6, IL-10, TNF-a and IFN-γ in the lung tissues were significantly reduced compared to the control group. These findings suggest that SFJDC may be a potential herbal remedy for improving lung health after COVID-19 infection. Therefore, further research is needed to study the efficacy of SFJDC on the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 pneumonia.

The text explores the connection between Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the COVID-19 virus. Specifically, it looks at how Lian Hua Qing Wen (LHQW), a TCM, is enriched in six modules that are associated with leukocyte-mediated immunity and immune system-, cancer, and viral infection diseases. Furthermore, the text explains that 189 proteins are shared with ACE2 co-expression proteins. This research suggests that TCM could be a viable option for treating the lung issues that come with COVID-19. Further research is needed to determine the efficacy of TCM in treating the lung issues caused by COVID-19.

Qing-Fei-Pai-Du-Tang (QFPDT) is an herbal remedy typically used for lung health and is being studied for its potential to help with the treatment of Covid-19. Research has shown that among QFPDT’s 790 putative targets, 232 targets were co-expressed with ACE2, the receptor of novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). These targets were enriched on two classes of disease pathways, virus infection and lung injury. Additionally, many targets interacted with six proteins of HIV virus and important targets regulated a series of pathways related to translation, endocrine system, immune system, nervous system and signal transduction. It is hypothesized that by regulating these proteins and pathways, QFPDT may be able to balance immunity and reduce inflammation. The main targeting organs of QFPDT are the lung and the spleen, making it a potential natural remedy for lung health after Covid-19. While further research is needed to understand its effectiveness in treating Covid-19, the current evidence suggests that QFPDT may be a promising remedy for lung health after the disease.

O. and his team reported in a review article published in the journal Phytotherapy Research. Herbal medicines may be effective in treating and preventing mild to moderate COVID-19. Double-blind, placebo-controlled studies are currently underway to evaluate the safety and feasibility of medicinal mushrooms or a Chinese herb formulation as a COVID-19 remedy. Researchers are also conducting in vitro and animal studies with natural products to evaluate their antiviral activity or effects on COVID-19 sequelae. Herbs may prove to be a safe and effective treatment for lungs after being infected with COVID-19.
