Herbal remedies have been used for centuries to treat a variety of illnesses, including flu symptoms. While there is limited well-designed clinical trial evidence to assess the efficacy and safety of herbs, some evidence suggests that certain herbs, such as chamomile, Ziziphus jujube, and honey, can have beneficial effects on decreasing airway inflammation, bronchial constriction, mucus production, and airway hyper-responsiveness. Studies have also shown that herbal mixtures can be effective in treating children with intermittent asthma during viral respiratory tract infections. However, more research is needed to better understand the efficacy and safety of herbal remedies for flu symptoms.
