Brown sugar contains molasses which is a natural byproduct of the sugar refining process and contains water, minerals such as calcium, potassium, iron and magnesium, and other compounds such as organic acids and nonsugar carbohydrates. As a result, brown sugar provides certain nutritional benefits when consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet. However, it is still a form of sugar, so excessive consumption may lead to weight gain or other health issues. Overall, brown sugar can be part of a healthy diet when consumed in moderation, but diet diversity, watching total calories and participating in regular exercise are key to good health.

Chronic dietary interventions prevent disease and extend life, but are hard to follow long-term. Fasting mimicking diets(FMD) last 4-7 days with low calories, sugar, protein but high fat. Mice on bi-monthly 4-day FMD started mid- life live longer, 50% less cancer, less disease, better cognition. Humans on3 monthly 5-day FMD have less aging, diabetes, cancer, heart disease risk factors like cholesterol, blood pressure, CRP, IGF-1, fasting glucose, especially those with high baselines. Recent studies show FMD reverse insulin resistance, reduce aging/disease risk and cut biological age.
